After receiving your email invite to join the workspace, you will then be able to edit your shift availability and request days off.
Select your availability as either “prefer to work” or “prefer not to work” throughout the week. You can repeat availability or change it week-to-week or day-to-day. Do not leave any days blank– if you are available/unavailable for an entire day, select the “all day” option. (Please note, the app auto-fills hours of availability to 9am-5pm. If you need to switch this to all day, you must click the “all day” toggle.)
Under Profile Settings> Edit> you can add your preferred number of hours per week (this number cannot exceed 40) so the person creating the schedule has an idea of how many hours to give.
Any changes in availability or time-off requests must be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. Any time-off or availability changes made outside of that window will not overwrite the existing schedule, so if you have a last-minute conflict, it will be your responsibility to get your shift/s covered.*
If you cannot find someone to cover your shift, you are still expected to work. If it is a dire emergency, contact the manager. Do not wait until the last minute to contact a manager–please give at least 48 hours notice so adjustments can be made.
Note that a time-off request is only a request– it does not mean it will get approved. If it’s taking a while to get an approval, contact the manager. Around certain holidays and events, some shifts may be mandatory. Drastic lateness or failure to show up for a shift will result in disciplinary action. No call/no shows typically result in immediate termination. Understand that private events are sometimes scheduled outside of regular business hours, and you may be scheduled to come in outside of your regular shifts. Management may schedule you outside of business hours, but they will not schedule you outside of your listed availability without your consent. It is your responsibility to know your work schedule and pay attention to any scheduling updates or announcements posted on Slack.
You may get scheduled for “On Call/call before shift,” which means you will be expected to be available to come in during the entirety of that shift unless told otherwise by a manager or shift lead. Call in advance to see if you will be needed, but note that you may still get called in at a later time if the other staff get overwhelmed. If something important comes up during an on call shift, let the other staff know on slack with a message tagged “@channel.”
*Please note that any time you swap a shift or cover for someone, you must let management know so the schedule can be adjusted accordingly.
