The Light Building (631 Union St, about five minutes from Morgan Square) is the turn-key pick: an intimate event space for up to 75 guests with the amenities already in the room — conference table, pool table, an 85-inch TV, 150-inch projection, and audio. For a 25-to-40-person office that wants the whole place to itself without renting a ballroom, this is the sweet spot. RJ Rockers (226-A W Main St) is Spartanburg’s brewery-casual answer — a downtown taproom open seven days a week with an event-booking option and a regular live-music calendar. For a 15-to-25-person team that wants good local beer and no formal program, a taproom gathering is hard to beat, and there’s no ballroom minimum to justify.
Full disclosure: RJ Rockers is literally next door to our venue — we share the block at 226 W Main St, and our guests park free in the RJ Rockers lot. That makes the two an easy pair: pints at the brewery, then walk thirty seconds to the axe lanes (or the reverse). Plenty of Spartanburg groups turn that pairing into the whole party.
Also downtown: FR8yard (125 E Main St), the open-air biergarten built from shipping containers, offers private parties and is a short walk from Morgan Square. It’s a fun, only-in-Spartanburg pick — just remember it’s open-air, so a December date means checking the forecast and asking them what cold-weather setup looks like.
