Booking RC Dirt Box and axe throwing together
Because they are two businesses, the straightforward route is two bookings — one with Craft Axe Throwing and one with RC Dirt Box. But you do not have to do it that way for a party or a bigger group: we can put together a custom booking that covers both. Call the venue or email [email protected] and we will set it up.
RC Dirt Box’s operator notes that outside food is welcome but outside beverages are not, since drinks are served on site.
Make an afternoon of it in downtown Spartanburg
226 W Main St puts you a short walk from most of downtown, which matters because RC sessions are short by design. Sequenced by the arena’s clock:
- Before a weekday 4:15 PM session. Little River Coffee Bar at 188A W Main St is a two-minute walk up the same side of the street, in the historic Masonic Temple — espresso, smoothies, and baked goods, open Mon–Sat 7 AM to 7 PM. Next door at 186 W Main is the Hub City Bookshop, the independent bookstore run by the nonprofit Hub City Writers Project, with a strong kids’ section — check their hours before you count on it.
- Saturday, the best pairing on this list. The Spartanburg Science Center at 200 E St John St, on the second floor at Chapman Cultural Center, is open Thursday through Saturday, 10 AM to 2 PM only, with $5 general admission for ages 5 and up. Hands-on exhibits, live animals, fossils, robotics. Do the Science Center from 10, then walk back for the RC arena the moment it opens at 12:15.
- Dinner, four minutes east toward Morgan Square. Burgär at 137 W Main St is the easy everyone’s-happy option — burgers, wings, grilled cheese, loaded fries, tenders, salads, and vegan options, open Sun–Thu 11 AM to about 9 PM and Fri–Sat to 10 PM. Monsoon Noodle House at 129 W Main St has been downtown since 2008 and does noodle bowls, soups, and stir-fry with a kids’ menu — but it is closed Tuesdays, and the RC arena is open Tuesdays, so plan around that.
- Dessert afterward. Smallcakes Spartanburg at 129 W Main St, Suite B is a cupcakery and creamery — 14 cupcake flavors baked daily and 75 homemade ice cream flavors — open Tue–Sat until 9 PM, closed Mondays, which happens to match the arena’s Monday closure exactly. For a late Friday or Saturday finish, Spill the Beans at 174 E Main St, about eight minutes east past Morgan Square, is a coffee house and custom-blended ice cream shop open until 11 PM Mon–Sat.
